Meet a playful naughty monkey Bobo! He likes to play with kids and make new friends. You can carry this amigurumi monkey wherever you go or just use him as a home decor by placing him on a bookshelf, office desk, or on a window.

Crochet your own little monkey with the help of our step-by-step amigurumi pattern! Pick any colors for body, hands, foot pads, and face! Add decorations or embroidery to personalize with a name, message, or artwork.

Supplies:

  • Super fine 100% acrylic yarn (200 m / 50 g) in beige and brown colors
  • 2.0 mm crochet hook

  • Fiberfill for stuffing
  • Thread strong enough for fastening arms and legs
  • Satin ribbon
  • Scissors and sewing needle

Skill level: intermediate

If you use the suggested yarn and hook the monkey size will be about 14 cm (5.5″). You can also use DK yarn and 3.0 mm crochet hook for this toy, but note that your monkey will be bigger.

How did you make ‘contraction’ for eyes? I’ve never heard of that. Did you just pinch the area between the eyes and sew it so there’s a pucker between the eyes? Can’t wait to make him! 🙂

Hi Peggy, in other words it’s called “indent”. You can see the example of eye contractions in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lETBf2WarfA (starting from 17th minute)

Do you join with a slip stitch at the end of each round? Do you chain 1 at the beginning of each round? So cute! Trying to make now, just a little confused.

Hi Rachel, please work in continuous rounds (in spiral) without sl st joining and lifting ch.

It’s easier to work in tounds using sl st join. You always know exactly where the new round begins.

Hi Debra, you can make this monkey without button joints. You can use plastic joints instead https://www.amazon.com/s?k=doll+joints&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
