Free Happy Jellyfish Amigurumi Pattern by Amigurumi Today

Use this free jellyfish amigurumi pattern to crochet your own happy jellyfish! This eye-catching crochet jellyfish is a great sensory toy for baby and oh so pretty to look at! You can also use it as cute pendant for your bag or backpack.

Find us on Instagram >> https://www.instagram.com/amigurumitoday/

To crochet this jellyfish amigurumi you need:

  • Fine (4 ply) yarn Yarnart Jeans (55% cotton, 45% acrylic; 160 m / 50 g)
  • 2.0 mm crochet hook by Tulip
  • 8 mm safety eyes
  • Fiberfill for stuffing
  • Scissors

The finished jellyfish amigurumi is about 10 cm (3.9″), if you use the same supplies.

Skill level: easy

One important note before you start: crochet toys with small plastic parts should not be given to children under the age of 3! We strongly recommend embroidering eyes instead of using plastic eyes if you’re going to make it for baby. Better safe than sorry!

I absolutely love this jellyfish pattern, but how did you tint the jellyfish?

Hi Sarah, you can tint them with rouge or soft pastel that doesn’t contain oil.

Hi Kerry πŸ™‚ You can view the patterns for free on our website and mobile app. PDF version itself is not free. Because it takes a lot of time to prepare the patterns. So, in spite of this fact all people who can’t pay for PDF patterns can view them on the website and make wonderful toys. We don’t hide the instructions. Hope for your understanding πŸ™‚

1.75 hook isn’t too small for this weight yarn?

Hi Shannon, you can use bigger hook according to your yarn weight, design won’t change πŸ™‚

Thank you so very much for this pattern! I made the little jelly fish in blue today and it was fairly easy to do following the pattern. Tomorrow I shall glue the eyes in and paint the cheeks with a bit of wax crayon. Then it’ll be ready to keep another fish I made company.

Hi! I tried this pattern and when I put the top with the tentacles, the stitches didn’t match up. J ended up with a big extra loop in the head piece. It’s probably my messing up, but do you mean foundation by the head or tentacles?

Hi, I’m curious about how to end the bottom peice, the one that you are tying the tentacles into. Do you just tie off and then begin the tentacles, or is there are more fluid way of doing this without having to tie off?

    I appreciate your feedback πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for the cute pattern. I made one with sparkly yarn and it’s really cute. The only question I have is how do you keep the bottom panel from hanging down too far below … mine looks like a round ball when I hang it up.πŸ™ƒ

This is a very nice pattern I already made it twice haha.
I only don’t get how to attach the head to the tentacles, it doesnt line up for me because they both have the same amount of stitches? For the 2 I made I just crocheted them together. Would love some extra explanation about how to do it because that edge is very cute

You can make a smaller version if you use thinner yarn. Same goes if you want to make a bigger version, just use thicker yarn. Hope this helps!

For anyone who needs help, here’s a tip. When you start crocheting the head and the part with the tentacles, for the 5 decreases you put your hook in the front stitch(the one closest to you)yarn over and come back and you should have 2 loops. then you insert your hook into the stitch across from it, not next to, yarn over, and then you will have 3 loops. After that you yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on the hook to end up with 1 loop. that’s one decrease but you will have to do 5 decreases in that same stitch for that rounded look in the picture. And of course after that you continue with the rest of the pattern.
