To crochet Easter chicken amigurumi you need:
- Fine semi-cotton yarn Yarnart Jeans (160 m / 50 g; 55% cotton, 45% acrylic)
- 2.5 mm crochet hook by Tulip
- Stuffing material
- 6 mm safety eyes
- Scissors
- Sewing needle
Skill level: intermediate
The finished amigurumi chicken is about 15 cm (5.9″) when sitting, in case you use similar supplies. If you use thicker yarn, your crochet chicken will be bigger.

sc = single crochet
ch = chain
inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
dec = decrease (2 sc together)
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
bo = bobble stitch

Head and body:
Begin crocheting with beige yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
Rnd 3: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 4: sc in all 18 st [18]
Rnd 5: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Rnd 6-7: sc in all 24 st [24]
Rnd 8: sc in next st, inc, (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 5 times, sc in next 2 st [30]
Rnd 9-10: sc in all 30 st [30]

Change to blue yarn.

How to crochet bobble stitch (bo): the bobble stitch is a combination of 4 double crochet stitches in the same stitch, but when you work it, you leave each double crochet stitch incomplete without pulling through the last stitch. When you have 5 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.
Rnd 19: (sc in next 3 st with beige yarn, bo in next st with brown yarn) repeat 12 times [48]
Change to beige yarn.
Rnd 20: sc in all 48 st [48] + sc in next st
Change to yellow yarn.
Rnd 21: (sc in next 7 st, inc) repeat 6 times [54]
Rnd 22: sc in all 54 st [54]
Change to red yarn.

Change to brown yarn.
Rnd 32: sc in next 50 st, dec, sc in next 3 st [54] + sc in next st
Change to yellow yarn.
Rnd 33: sc in next 3 st, dec, (sc in next 7 st, dec) repeat 5 times, sc in next 4 st [48]
Rnd 34: sc in all 48 st [48]
Change to red yarn.
Rnd 35: sc in next 2 st, dec, (sc in next 6 st, dec) repeat 5 times, sc in next 4 st [42]
Rnd 36: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 6 times [36]
Change to beige yarn.
Rnd 37: sc in next 2 st, dec, (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 5 times, sc in next 2 st [30]
Rnd 38: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
Stuff with fiberfill.
Rnd 39: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 40: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 6 times [12]

Fasten off leaving a small tail. Pass the yarn end through the front loops of the rest 6 stitches with your hook or sewing needle and pull to close the hole. Weave in the end.
Eyes (make 2):
Crochet with white yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
Rnd 3: sc in all 12 st [12]
Insert safety eyes in the center of Rnd 1. Put a little bit of fiberfill inside.
Rnd 4: (dec) repeat 6 times [6]
Fasten off leaving a small tail. Pass the yarn end through the front loops of the rest 6 stitches with your hook or sewing needle and pull to close the hole. Leave a yarn tail for sewing.
Beak:
Work with yellow yarn. Don’t stuff.
Rnd 1: 4 sc in magic ring [4]
Rnd 2: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 2 times [6]
Rnd 3: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 2 times [8]
Rnd 4: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 2 times [10]
Rnd 5: sc in all 10 st [10]
Rnd 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 2 times [12]
Flatten the edges and crochet sc in next 6 st through both layers, closing the hole. Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.
Wattles (make 2):
Crochet with red yarn. Don’t stuff.

Don’t cut off the yarn.
Flatten the edges of all three parts of the comb. Crochet through both layers of all three parts, joining them together: sc in next 3 st of 3rd part through both layers, sc in next 4 st of 2nd part through both layers, sc in next 3 st of 1st part through both layers. Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.
