To crochet this amigurumi dinosaur you need:
- Fine yarn Yarnart Jeans (160 m / 50 g; 55% cotton, 45% acrylic)
- 2.0-2.5 mm crochet hook by Tulip
- White lace yarn for teeth (150 m / 25 g)
- 1.25 mm crochet hook for teeth
- 8 mm safety eyes
- Polyester fiberfill
- Scissors and sewing needle
The size of finished amigurumi T-rex is about 15 cm (5.9″) when sitting. Your Tyrannosaurus size can be different depending on yarn and hook you use.

Free Dinosaur Crochet Pattern
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
inc = increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec = decrease (2 sc together)
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
tr = treble crochet
(..) = repeat the instructions in brackets the given number of times
[..] = total number of stitches
Crochet in continuous rounds, unless otherwise specified. Mark the beginning of each round with stitch marker.
Head:
Crochet 6 ch with dark green yarn. Continue working around the foundation chain, beginning from 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 1: sc in next 4 ch, 3 sc in last ch, turn, sc in next 3 st, inc [12]
Rnd 2: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 3: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Rnd 4: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 6 times [30]
Rnd 5: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 6 times [36]
Rnd 6: (sc in next 5 st, inc) repeat 6 times [42]
Rnd 7: (sc in next 6 st, inc) repeat 6 times [48]
Rnd 8-13: sc in next 48 st [48]
Crochet additional sc in next st. Mark the following stitch as the beginning of next round. Make sure that yarn marker is in the middle of the chin.
Rnd 14: (sc in next 7 st, inc) repeat 6 times [54]
Rnd 15-16: sc in next 54 st [54]
Rnd 17: sc in next 9 st, (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 6 times, sc in next 15 st [60]
Rnd 18-23: sc in next 60 st [60]
Insert safety eyes between Rnd 16 and Rnd 17 (14 stitches in between the eyes).
Rnd 24: (sc in next 8 st, dec) repeat 6 times [54]
Rnd 25: (sc in next 7 st, dec) repeat 6 times [48]
Crochet additional sc in next st. Mark the following stitch as the beginning of next round.
Rnd 26: (sc in next 6 st, dec) repeat 6 times [42]

Crochet additional sc in next st. Mark the following stitch as the beginning of next round. Don’t cut off the yarn.

in most toy patterns arms and leg are sawn after or only the legs are worked into bottom of the boady

SUPER SORRY ABOUT THAT I DON’T KNOW WHY IT DUPLICATED.
He turned out great. Thank you for the pattern. The only part that was confusing for me was when I was making the head at one point it says to add a stitch but then it says to make sure the stitch marker is under the chin. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to add 1 sc or if I was supposed to add enough so that the beginning of the round would be under the chin. I just made him as best as I could. If anyone can clear that up that would be great next time I make him. Thanks
It would just be super nice to know where the ‘center of the chin’ is located on this thing when you’ve never worked this pattern before…. he’s very cute, he could just use a few more assembly pictures for the head!
