To crochet this elephant amigurumi you need:
- Fine (4 ply) semi-cotton yarn Yarnart Jeans (55% cotton, 45% acrylic; 160 m / 50 g)
- 2.0 mm crochet hook
- 8 mm safety eyes or black beads
- Fiberfill for stuffing
- Sewing needle and scissors
The height of finished amigurumi elephant is about 10 cm (3.9″), if you use the same yarn and hook. The pattern can also work well with the yarn of other weight, but the size of finished crochet toy can be different.

st = stitch
sc = single crochet
inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
dec = decrease (2 sc together)
sl st = slip stitch

The head, body and legs of this tiny amigurumi elephant are crocheted as one piece. They’re joined in the course of crocheting. Work in continuous rounds using a stitch marker.
Head:
Crochet with light pink yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
Rnd 3: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 6 times [30]
Rnd 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 6 times [36]
Rnd 7: (sc in next 5 st, inc) repeat 6 times [42]
Rnd 8-13: sc in all 42 st [42]
Rnd 14: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 6 times [36]
Insert safety eyes between Rnd 10 and Rnd 11 (6-7 stitches in between the eyes).
Rnd 15: (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 6 times [30]
Rnd 16: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
Rnd 17: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
Stuff with fiberfill.
Rnd 18: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 6 times [12]
Add more stuffing. The head is done. Switch to blue yarn and continue working on the body.
Body:
Stuff as you go.
Rnd 19: sc in all 12 st [12]
Rnd 20: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 21: sc in all 18 st [18]
Rnd 22: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Rnd 23: sc in all 24 st [24]
Rnd 24: (sc in next 11 st, inc) repeat 2 times [26]
Rnd 25-29: sc in all 26 st [26]
Now you’re going to crochet legs. Divide the body in two equal parts with stitch marker (each part consists of 13 st).
Rnd 1: crochet the first round of the leg: make sc in each st till the marker then turn and crochet on the other side of the body, forming a circle [13]
Rnd 2-5: sc in all 13 st [13]
Stuff.
Rnd 6: (dec) repeat 6 times [7]
Fasten off leaving a small tail. Weave in the yarn tail in front loops of the rest 7 stitches, then pull to close the hole. Hide the end.
Join the blue yarn between the legs and crochet the second leg on the rest 13 st of the body in the same way.
Arms (make 2):
Begin crocheting with light pink yarn.
Rnd 1: 5 sc in magic ring [5]
Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 5 times [10]
Rnd 3-4: sc in all 10 st [10]
Switch to blue color.
Rnd 5: sc in all 10 st in back loops only [10]
Stuff the bottom of the arm with fiberfill.
Rnd 6: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 3 times, sc in next st [7]
Rnd 7-11: sc in all 7 st [7]
Flatten the edges and crochet 3 sc through the stitches of both layers, closing the hole. Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.
Trunk:
Crochet with light pink yarn. Don’t stuff.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Rnd 2-5: sc in all 6 st [6]
Rnd 6: (inc, sc in next 2 st) repeat 2 times [8]
Rnd 7-8: sc in all 8 st [8]
