    Hi,
I really like your pattern for the bear and I am making it now. But this is second day I am sitting and just can’t understand how to join legs and to start crocheting body! It’s just so frustrating! Chain 2, join with slip stich… and then to crochet round. But I have a hole between legs! And if I am chaining 2 and then joining legs with slip stich, these 2 chain is just disappearing! Could you please explain more and maybe make some pictures?

Hi Olga :), please explain why your chains disappear? If you crochet according to the pattern, these two chains make a little “bridge” between the legs. So, you crochet along the “bridge” when moving from one leg to another.

That’s right! That’s how it is supposed to be and I understand it but when I do it, it’s just not right! It doesn’t make sense how to crochet from the place where you say to crochet +5 single crochet on the left leg so the legs are pointing out. Ok, I did it but when I put them together and chain 2… I just can’t join them! I don’t understand where to start joining them and how. I am so sorry, maybe it’s a stupid question but I am just stuck and this is so upsetting! Please help!

Maybe… I have to chain 2, then join it somewhere with the second leg, then I don’t know how many slip stitches I have to make to join legs, then chain 2 again and then start crocheting round? Does that sounds right? Cause after that I don’t have space to make 16 single crochet plus 2 single crochet on these 2 chain and then again on the opposite side. Oh… 🙁

Olga, I am German and I’ll try to explain.
You have the first leg fastened off, the yarn is with your second leg.
You make 2 chains. Then you take the first leg and make one slip stitch in a stitch from the first leg. Please take attention that the feet are positioned like in the photo.
Then you crochet 16 sc round the first leg, starting with the first sc in the same stitch as the slip stitch. Then you crochet 2 sc in the 2 chains, one in each chain. Then 16 sc in the stitches of the second leg, and then 2 sc in the 2 chains from this side of the work.
    You have now 36 sc.
There gets now the stitch marker and the second round of the body starts.

    Is that more understandable?

      Hi Kerstin!
I really appreciate that you wrote everything so detailed! Thank you so much! I followed your each word but I still can’t make it! I feel so stupid! This is first time with me that I can’t make something what seems so easy! And I know that it is easy and all the tutorial is so damn easy but this place..! I really don’t understand what I am doing wrong or where exactly I am making mistake! I just have a hole between legs, is that supposed to be? They are attached to each other but between those “bridges” is a hole! And also, where are my 2 ch on the other side where I suppose to crochet 2 sc into? I have to make them before? Or after 16 sc which I make on the second leg? But if I crocheted all stitches around already, it’s gonna be just chain there! Omg, I will cry! How come I don’t understand??? 🙁 I guess, only video tutorial can help me. But no video in here!! 🙁 🙁

Now, I have a question, because I just saw the pattern of the little bunny. Why do the heads look differently but the pattern of the heads for bunny and bear are the same?

Shouldn’t there be a difference with the rounds?

    Thanks for answer.

Kerstin, I noticed this as well. But I think it is just shaped with hands like that. Cause I noticed when you put fibrefill inside of the body or head, you can still kinda make different shapes of it when you squeeze it with your hands. Maybe I am not putting enough fibrefill but I don’t like my toys being too firm, I like them better on the soft side. But it’s just me. At the same time I don’t think it will be difficult to add some rounds to make the shape of the head more oval.

I was fascinated when I saw this little Amigurumi creature and couldn’t wait to make it! I’m thrilled with the result- the pattern was very clearly written and easy to follow, however I wouldn’t recommend for first-time crocheters!! There are a few tricky little steps which could prove difficult for someone with only a fundamental understanding of this craft!

Round 2: two times inc ( so two st.)
    Three sc (three st)
    Two times inc (two st.)
    Three sc (three st.)
Two+three+two+three= 10 st. How can i do this? I’m so sad:(

Rnd 2: 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st = 14

inc = 2 st in one st, so inc 2 times = 4 st

I was unable to locate the type of yarn in this pattern. I’m using some yarn I have at home that is 4 worsted and recommends a 5mm crochet hook. Am I right to think I should cut this pattern in half since the yarn I’m using is thicker? I would like the bear to be as close to the same dimensions as the one in this pattern.

    Hi,
For this bear it says to use Alize cotton gold yarn. Is there a difference between that and the Yarnart Jeans yarn other then the length and weight of the yarn? The Yarnart Jeans yarn is 160m and 50g and the Alize cotton gold yarn is 330m and 100g. I’m still learning about yarns. Would I just be able to buy more then one Yarnart Jeans yarn? By the way your patterns are just adorable! Thank you

Do you have a pattern for a dress and and shirt and paints that will fit these. I want to make them for my dagger and son in-laws anniversary. Thank you

I made your hippo. My problem in getting parts even. My arms on many projects are not even. When I look at them I can see the ears are crooked or t one leg is closer to the front of the body than the other. Can you make a suggestion as to how to get the parts where the belong and look straight and even? Help!!! Please and thank you. Love your critters. I plan to make them all.

I’m 14, a boy. I’ve crocheted for 1 year. I have made this bear for a teacher of my school and she loves it! I’ve made a heart above the bear’ heart ’cause my teacher’s says: ,,The scarf is so winterly! Crochet a heart, it is seasonal all year round.”

Hello, I’m having trouble joining the legs. I’m wondering if there is a video tutorial on how this is done?

I have gotten to joining the legs and I have tried it like 10 times and cannot get it to work. It seems like the legs are twisting and I cannot get the two stitches in the middles to stay straight. I’m so frustrated because I have everything else done and can’t figure this out. Can someone explain it a little better? I consider myself an immediate level crocheter, but I have never done Amigurumi before and this is stumping me.

Hi, I am just past the eyes on the head…so not very far.
I feel my crocheting looks so much different than yours.
    Yours looks way tighter.
Do you know of a site I could go to that would show me
    how you are crocheting.?
I am using thread, size 10. Was not sure what yarn you
    were using…size wise.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to double the size of this bear?
Ive been asked to make a bear, but double the size and add a moustache, for a charity event.
Ive tried doubling the pattern, but its coming out all wobbly and not straight. Please does anyone have any ideas on how to double the size?
….This project is meant to be completed my November, for Movember.
    Thanks

How is this supposed to be a FREE pattern when you are not allowed to print or copy it! We do not all have time to sit on the computer to use the pattern. If it is FREE we should be able to download or copy it to our computer to use. I want to be able to print it off and sit in comfort in my living room to crochet, not sit at a computer. Very disappointed in your website as I have found this problem with all of your patterns, Looks to me like a false claim – it is FREE to look at but you have to pay to use it!

Hi 🙂 You can use online versions of the patterns for free on our website and mobile app. PDF version itself is not free, because it takes a lot of time to make the patterns. So, in spite of this fact all people who can’t pay for PDF patterns can view them on the website and make wonderful toys. Hope for your understanding 🙂

Hi Debora, as explained these patterns take a lot of time and care to write out, if you like to crochet when laptop is not available, just write it out using paper & pen, as I do… problem solved, happy stitching!

I’m disappointed in the ugly comment about this not being a “free” pattern, because that’s exactly what this is. Folks like that seem to wind up discouraging well-meaning happy people with all their negativity.
With that being said (sorry…) I’d like to thank you for taking the time to type everything, making it a super easy to follow pattern, and including pictures as a reference. My bear turned out totally adorable and I’m excited to use all your other FREE patterns. Being able to access them anytime I want (while relaxing on the couch for instance) by using my phone or laptop makes your site my very favorite. Keep up the awesome job!

What do you do with the second tail from the other leg? it says to connect the legs with a ch 2 and sl st, (I’m assuming with one of the legs ending string) and then go a round both legs and the path but that would go over the other end for one leg. do I just tie a knot and tuck it inside?
