Supplies:
- Light worsted yarn (DK / 8 ply) – 70% cotton, 30% wool; 105 m / 50 g
- 3.0 mm crochet hook
- 12 mm safety eyes
- Polyester fiberfill
- Black thread for eyebrows and paws
- Some white felt for eyes
- Safety plastic nose
- Satin ribbon
The size of finished amigurumi pug is about 11 cm (4.3″).

Free amigurumi pattern
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
dec = decrease (2 sc together)
sl st = slip stitch
(..) = repeat the space in brackets the given number of times
[..] = total number of stitches
Crochet the toy continuously in a spiral (unless otherwise specified), marking the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.
Eye spots (make 2):
Crochet with black yarn.
Rnd 1: 7 sc in magic ring, join with sl st [7] Do not tighten the ring much, leave a hole for safety eyes.
Rnd 2: 1 ch, (inc) x 7 times, join with sl st [14]
Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.
Head:
Crochet with beige color.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
Rnd 3: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 6 times [30]
Rnd 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 6 times [36]
Rnd 7: (sc in next 5 st, inc) repeat 6 times [42]
Rnd 8: (sc in next 6 st, inc) repeat 6 times [48]
Rnd 9-16: sc in all 48 st [48]
Rnd 17: (sc in next 6 st, dec) repeat 6 times [42]
Rnd 18: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 6 times [36]
Rnd 19: (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 6 times [30]
Preparing eyes for insertion:
Cut out two circles from white felt, they should be slightly larger than your safety eyes. Make small holes in the center of the felt circles, suitable for inserting an eye in them.
Insert safety eyes with felt circles into the black crochet spots. Place the eyes between Rnd 11 and Rnd 12, at the distance of 8-9 stitches from each other. Fix the eyes from the inside. Now you can start stuffing the head.
Rnd 20: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
Rnd 21: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 22: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 6 times [12]
Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing. Stuff the head firmly.
Muzzle:
Crochet 8 ch with black yarn. Continue working from the second ch from hook.
Rnd 1: sc in next 6 st, 4 sc in next st, turn and continue crocheting on the other side of foundation chain: sc in next 5 st, 3 sc in next st [18]
Rnd 2: sc in next 2 st, 3 sc together (like decrease but with 3 st instead of 2), sc in next 2 st, inc, inc, sc in next 2 st, inc, sc in next st, inc, sc in next 2 st, inc, inc [22]
Rnd 3: sc in next st, dec, dec, sc in next st, inc, sc in next st, inc, sc in next 2 st, inc, sc in next 4 st, inc, sc in next 2 st, inc, sc in next st, inc [26]
Rnd 4: sc in all 26 st [26]
Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.
Body:
Crochet with beige yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
Rnd 3: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 6 times [30]
Rnd 6-8: sc in all 30 st [30]
Rnd 9: sc in next 3 st, dec, sc in next 18 st, dec, sc in next 3 st, dec [27]
Rnd 10: sc in next 3 st, dec, sc in next 16 st, dec, sc in next 2 st, dec [24]
Rnd 11: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 2 times, sc in next 15 st, dec, sc in next st [21]
Rnd 12: dec, dec, sc in next 15 st, dec [18]
Rnd 13-15: sc in all 18 st [18]
Fasten off and hide the end. Stuff firmly.
Ears (make 2):
Use black yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 3 times [9]
Rnd 3: sc in all 9 st [9]
Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 3 times [12]
Rnd 5: sc in all 12 st [12]
Rnd 6: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 3 times [15]
Rnd 7: sc in all 15 st [15]
Rnd 8: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 3 times [18]
Rnd 9: sc in all 18 st [18]
Don’t stuff. Flatten the ear and crochet sc in next 9 st through both layers. Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.
