Sheep keychain - free crochet pattern - materials

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
inc = increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec = decrease (2 sc together)

The toy is crocheted in joined rounds with a chain at the beginning of each round. It’s more convenient that way. It’s possible to crochet in spiral, but you will need a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round and not to lose the count of stitches and rounds.

It’s a bit difficult to crochet with fluffy yarn: loops are not clearly visible, that’s why you need to count stitches.

Head (make 1):
Start with smooth yarn (Nako Bambino).
Rnd 1: 4 ch, 2 sc in the second stitch from the hook, sc in next st, 3 sc in the last st. Crochet at the other side of the chain: sc in next st, sc in the first chain [8]
Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 2 times, sc in next st, (inc) repeat 3 times, sc in next st, inc. [14]
Rnd 3: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 2 times, sc in next st, (sc in next st, inc) repeat 3 times, sc in next 2 st, inc. [20]
Rnd 4: (sc in next 3 st, inc, sc in next 5 st, inc) repeat 2 times [24]
Rnd 5-7: sc in all 24 st
Rnd 8: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 9: sc in all 18 st
Rnd 10: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Cut the smooth yarn and join fluffy yarn.
Rnd 11-12: sc in all 24 st
Rnd 13: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 14: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 6 times [12]
Stuff the head. Shape the beautiful muzzle.
Rnd 15: Decreases till the hole is closed. Cut the yarn, weave in the end.

    Fabulous! Thks for sharing! What does shape the legs with contractions mean? I have never heard of that mentioned in any of the patterns I have crocheted before?

      Hi Marie :), contractions are some kind of indents made with thread and sewing needle.

    Hi, this is so beautiful. Can I ask, at the beginning can I just start with a mc and do 8 sc into it. You don’t actually say whether you start with a series of chains. Thank you for your help June

    round 3 should finish with sc and not with inc. if you finish with inc, that round will have 17 st total, and not 16 and then in next round you’ll have one st extra 😉

    how come when a pattern is listed as free, and there is a PDF pattern, there is no way to print it out. This is very frustrating. When they say they are free are they really free. If so please let me know how to do it. Thank you. You do beautiful work. I have purchased your patterns.

      You can use online versions of the patterns for free on our website and mobile app. PDF version itself is not free. Because it takes a lot of time to prepare the patterns. So, in spite of this fact all people who can’t pay for PDF patterns can view them on the website and make wonderful toys. We don’t hide the instructions. Hope for your understanding 🙂
