To crochet these amigurumi monkeys you need:
- Fine yarn Yarnart Jeans (160 m / 50 g; 55% cotton, 45% acrylic)
- 2.0-2.5 mm crochet hook by Tulip
- 8 mm safety eyes for mother monkey
- 5 mm safety eyes for baby monkey
- Brown thread for noses
- Polyester fiberfill
- Scissors and sewing needle
The size of finished mother monkey is about 15 cm (5.9″) when sitting. Father monkey was made with the same yarn, but bigger hook and another yarn tension.

Free Crochet Pattern
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
inc = increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec = decrease (2 sc together)
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
(..) = repeat the instructions in brackets the given number of times
[..] = total number of stitches
Crochet in continuous rounds, unless otherwise specified. Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.
Arms (make 2):
Thumbs (make 2):
Work with beige yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: sc in all 6 st [6]
Fasten off and cut off the yarn.
Right arm:
Crochet hand with beige yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 3 times [9]
Rnd 3: sc in next 3 st, 4 sc in next st, sc in next 4 st, 4 sc in next st [15]
Rnd 4-5: sc in all 15 st [15]
Rnd 6: sc in next 6 st, put thumb and arm together (face side to face side, see picture below), insert your hook from the wrong side of the thumb and crochet sc in next 3 st working through the stitches of both arm and thumb, sc in next 6 st of the arm [15]
Continue working around excluding the stitches where you joined the arm and thumb together.
Rnd 7: sc in next 6 st, sc in next 3 st of the thumb (those 3 stitches that left unworked), sc in next 6 st [15]
Rnd 8: sc in all 15 st [15]
Rnd 9: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 3 times [12]
Change to golden brown yarn.
Rnd 10-23: sc in all 12 st [12]
Stuff only bottom part of the arm. Flatten the edges and crochet sc in next 6 st working through both layers. Fasten off and cut off the yarn. Embroider 2 vertical lines with beige yarn to indicate fingers.
Left arm:
Crochet hand with beige yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]

Love this pattern! I only have one concern though, the tail is crooked when the monkey is said and done. It’s not in the center of the body, but closer to the leg.
